Red Tails Opens This Weekend

On January 19, 2012, in DWU, MOVIES, by PapaNige
Red Tails is a film about the famous Tuskegee Airmen of World War II,  inspired by the true story of America’s first all black aerial combat unit. The film’s title comes from red painted tails on their planes.  With an all black cast and no starring “white” role, the concept was a hard sell for “Star Wars” creator George Lucas. Lucas eventuall took $58 million of his own cash to personally fund the project.  The film, which tells the story of a group of Tuskegee Airmen during WWII, has  a cast that includes  Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Ne-Yo and Method Man.  It opens nationwide on Jan. 20.  I’ve spoken to a number of people who attended screenings, and I expect it will be a “must see” film for 2012.   Continue for the Trailer
