Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011

Breitling Colt watches Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 Fan of high-end quartz watches? Breitling has a nice new piece for you. What is high-end quartz? Well not cheap quartz! The perception that all quartz watches are cheap is a bit of a shame. It is true that you can buy a quartz movement based watch for a few bucks, but high-end quartz watches are out there - and they have their fan following for sure. Breitling is one of the few Swiss brands that continually offers high-end Swiss quartz movement based timepieces in addition to mechanical watches (and not just in women's pieces). The mainstay of the Breitling quartz watch collection has always been their Aerospace watches. Those pieces are undeniably cool, but not everyone wants both analog hands and a digital display on their watch dial. So Breitling has always offered watches like this new Colt that are quartz movement based, but not digital. breitling colt black Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 breitling colt chronograph 3 Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 breitling colt strap white dial Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 I am not an expert of Breitling watch collections - though my understanding is that the Colt line has not always been about quartz movements. This new move might mean that moving forward all Colt watches will be quartz. If so, maybe that is a good thing. While Breitling has a lot of great watches, they also have a lot of watches! Few brands confuse me as much having so many product families and styles that feel pretty similar. The new for 2011 Colt watches will come in three styles, a 33mm wide women's model, a 44mm wide three-hand, and a 44mm wide chronograph. Each will have a Swiss ETA quartz movement, but not just any quartz movement - a Super Quartz (SuperQuartz)! This is the name ETA has given their family of high-end thermoline (thermo-compensated) quartz movements that are much more sophisticated than your standard bargain basement quartz movements. In addition to being much higher-quality, they are also accurate to within about 10 seconds year (that is versus about 15 seconds a month for standard quartz movements). breitling colt chronograph 4 Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 breitling colt chronograph white Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 The watches are also COSC certified Chronometers. Please note that this certification is different for quartz and mechanical watches, meaning that the criteria for quartz watches to get COSC certification are much more stringent. I really like that Breitling is catering to those people who want the reliability and accuracy of a quartz movement, but also want the durability and style of a Breitling. In steel, the watches are typical Breitling flavor, but you'll notice a new type of rotating bezel design that separates it from the typical Brelting bezel with the four corner "claws." The bezel on the new Colt is more simple and a bit more diver versus aviator in style. You'll either love or hate the steel on steel look with engraved numerals in a modern font. They look like an evolution of the Breitling Chronomat B01 bezel design. BREITLING Colt blue strap Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 Breitling Colt black leather Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 The dial design is interesting. You'll notice how it is set up into four quadrants, with two types of texturing. The hour indicators and markers are pretty legible and there is a fair amount of lume for night viewing. The hands look proportionate as well, which is good as sometimes Breitling gets a bit shy with hand size. The placement of a curved flange ring (with minute indicators or a tachymetre scale is a good touch). Water resistance is 500 meters for the three-hand models, and 300 meters for the chronograph models. Each has a double AR coated sapphire crystal. Breitling will offer the new Colt in three dial colors - black, silver, and blue. Inside the three-hand models are ETA SuperQuartz caliber 74 movements. Inside of the chronograph is the ETA SuperQuartz caliber 73 movement. While it might look like lower-end ETA quartz chronographs at first glance, it has a lot more functionality. The 12 hour chronograph is accurate to 1/1o of a second, it has a split-second complication, as well as the date. All are COSC Chronometer certified and are very (very) accurate. breitling colt blue Breitling Colt SuperQuartz Watches For 2011 In addition to what looks like a new style of steel metal bracelet, the new for 2011 Colt watches are available with padded leather straps, and two types of rubber straps. Prices are pretty reasonable which is even better. On the metal bracelet, prices are $3,850 for the Colt Chronograph, $3,150 for the 44mm wide Colt three-hand, and $3,050 for the 33mm wide Colt three-hand. Look for them about now.

TagHeuer Monaco Mikrograph Tag Heuer Monaco Mikrograph For Only Watch 2011 Auction Tag Heuer's piece unique entry into the Only Watch 2011 charity watch auction will be this one-of-a-kind version of their new Mikrograph in a Monaco case. The Mikrograph was a limited edition of 150 pieces, retro looking model with a special 1/100th of a second chronograph movement. Tag Heuer now plays with the design and places the movement in this more futuristic looking case. While this is a one-off watch to be auctioned off, look to elements of this piece for future design directions.

Officially Official: 2011 Audi RS 3 Sportback unveiled

2011 Audi RS 3 Sportback
2011 Audi RS 3 Sportback - Click above for high-res image gallery
After months of spy shots and speculation, Audi has released its official information on the RS 3 Sportback. The mean little bruiser will come to the fight with 340 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque courtesy of a turbo 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. With over 17 psi of boost breathing on the five-pot, Audi says that the RS 3 Sportback is good for a 0-60 mph run of just 4.6 seconds. As you might expect, the company's fantastic Quattro all-wheel drive system helps put all that power to the road. Down below, the hatch makes use of a four-link suspension out back and a McPherson strut design up front with plenty of hardware crafted from aluminum to keep unsprung weight as low as possible. The whole kit and caboodle sits a full inch lower than the standard S3 thanks to more aggressive coilover springs and dampers. Thus far, Audi has only confirmed the vehicle for sale in Europe, and we wouldn't hold our breath waiting for it to come to the States. It retails for a tidy 49,900 Euros in Germany, which works out to around $68,000 USD. Even accounting for The Continent's comparatively inflated vehicle prices, we're thinking that this handsome hatch won't be singing Yankee Doodle Dandy any time soon. Hit the jump for the full press blast. [Source: Audi] Continue reading Officially Official: 2011 Audi RS 3 Sportback unveiled

2011-chevrolet-corvette-z06-carbon-edition-front-three-quarter-view

If you've been chomping at the bit waiting for a Corvette as track ready as the ZR1, but you're a little short on cash, then the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition may well be the car for you. Back in March, Chevy unveiled the Carbon Edition and told fans it would start production of the near supercar shortly. Shortly turned out to be just a little longer. Now, Corvetteblogger.com is assuring the world that it has confirmation the new Corvette will start rolling off the line early next year with a base price starting at $90,960.

2011-chevrolet-corvette-z06-carbon-edition-front-three-quarter-view-orange According to the Corvetteblogger crew, if you check every box that price will jump to a reported $99,925. This puts the Carbon Edition on the high side of splitting the difference between the standard Z06 at $74,305 and the flagship ZR1 at $111,100. Performance seems to be split down the middle as well. We recently got our hands on a pre-production version of the Carbon and recorded some top flight numbers. It starts with the same 505-horsepower, 7.0-liter V-8 engine found in the standard Z06. Acceleration numbers are nearly identical for both cars, with 0-60 mph times at 3.7 seconds and the quarter mile ripping by in just 11.6 seconds at 123 mph.

Handling and braking is where the Carbon Edition really puts the distance on the standard issue Z06. Although not any lighter, it is equipped with the carbon brakes and magnetic ride suspension found on the higher-end ZR1. Stopping from 60 mph occurs in a face altering 93 feet, beating the ZR1 by four feet. Steady state grip was also recorded at a staggering 1.07 gs thanks to the suspension upgrade and the larger 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.

On the outside, the Carbon Edition will include a carbon-fiber hood, rockers, and front splitter. A body-colored spoiler is also standard on the rear and a carbon fiber roof panel is available. The interior receives loads of suede upholstery on the seating surfaces, steering wheel and shifter and is complimented by either blue or orange contrasting stitching.

While many customers will enjoy the exclusivity and high-tech look of the Z06 Carbon Edition, we have to wonder how many will go ahead and drop the extra $20,000 for the supercharged ZR1. Chevrolet is obviously betting there are a large number of people who don’t need the straight line performance but still want a track ready Corvette.

2010 Los Angeles: 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet

On November 18, 2010, in CARS, DWU, LA, RIDES, Syndicated, by SOURCE: MOTORTREND
2011-nissan-murano-crosscabriolet-front-quarter Nissan insists that the point of the Murano Concept CrossCabriolet is to show their boldness in decision making. We won't argue. Building an all-wheel-drive convertible (equipped with all-season tires, no less) is certainly a bold move. The new drop-top utility vehicle is creating its own genre, but is it going to fill a gap that doesn't exist? 2011-nissan-murano-crosscabriolet-rear-quarter Innovation is Nissan's core belief according to Nissan's head of design, Shiro Nakamura. The CrossCabriolet represents the reinvention of versatility and is aimed at "active optimistic couples in their 30s and 40s." Based on the D-platform that is shared with the Altima and Maxima, the CrossCabriolet will be sold in one trim level only. Powered by a 3.5-liter, 265-horspower V-6, the all-wheel-drive Convertible will only be sold with the XTronic CVT transmission. The cloth top is power operated and is said to fold up to roughly the same size as in a two-seater roadster. The glass rear-window and skylight were designed to keep the backseat from feeling claustrophobic, and pop-up rollbar system helps to increase rollover safety. The interior is unique to the CrossCabriolet and is available in; Black, cashmere and camel. Standard Navigation and 9.3GB audio hard drive and back-up monitor round out the list of luxury features. The base price for the Murano CrossCabriolet is set at $46,390. A definite release date was not given during the press conference. Nissan is confident these will be hit, but only time will tell.
