Air Jordan XIII Retro – Altitude

On December 10, 2010, in FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: SNEAKERNEWS.COM
In terms or the sheer amount of releases, Jordan Brand certainly has reached an uncharted (excuse the cheesiness) ‘altitude’. There was roughly just over one Retro or Retro-inspired Air Jordan shoe per week but many of you have kept your wallets nicely tucked away for the gargantuan December 2010 releases. Doernbecher IIIs, Cool Grey XI, Bulls XIII, Cranberry 1/2 Cents, and the Altitude XIII is roughly a cool stack of Ben Franklins in one month, but even during the painful process of balancing your finances, you’ll have your fresh kicks to console you. Officially hitting select Jordan Brand retailers tomorrow is the Air Jordan XIII ‘Altitude’, a re-issue of the 2005 colorway with an all-new mesh upper. Check out these extra images after the jump and be sure to snag a pair tomorrow, or get yours now on eBay. Style: 310004-031 Color: Black/Altitude Green

Air Jordan VII Retro – Orion Blue

On December 2, 2010, in FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: FRESHNESS MAG
Jordan Brand will release a new colorway of Michael Jordan’s seventh signature shoe, the Air Jordan VII, in the first quarter of 2011. This colorway uses a White leather upper and is accented with hints of Orion Blue and Infared which has led to various sneakerheads calling this the “Orion Blue” AJ VII. While Jordan fans will notice the strong similarities between this colorway and the 2002 White and French Blue colorway the noticeable difference between the two pairs is in the added Infared to the 2011 release. Stay tuned for more release details surrounding this anticipated Air Jordan or pick up a pair now over at marqueesole. Read the rest of: Air Jordan VII (7) Retro – Orion Blue | Preview

Air Jordan XI Cool Grey

On November 26, 2010, in FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: FRESHNESS MAG
Air Jordan XI Cool Grey | Detailed Photos If you’re reading this now, chances are, you already know exactly what the AJ XI Cool Grey is. And if you’ve been waiting for this shoe for months (or years), check out the detailed shots we now have. A bit of background: the XI Cool Grey was never released as an original color of the AJ XI; it was a limited 2001 release, and caused a frenzy way back then. Forums and blogs have been buzzing about this re-release for a long time, with a November date predicted – which turned out to be accurate, as the shoe is now available. There is no exact science to what drives the huge anticipation for any particular shoe, but simple aesthetic appeal is probably a main factor here: the mix of gray patent leather, translucent “icey” sole, in a totally tonal package, makes for a truly elegant sneaker. As far as the Jordan XI royal family goes, many put this right next to the Space Jams. The whole package is finished with a pair of Cool Grey shoe trees, and a special Cool Grey slide-out box. Any Jordan fan would love to find these under the Christmas Tree, but really, who are we kidding – no one could wait that long. Check out all of the detailed shots after the jump. via Schuh-You. Carmelo Anthony Meets Future Sole 2010 Winner

On November 12, 2010, in DWU, EVENTS, FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: SNEAKERNEWS.COM
Carmelo Anthony Meets Future Sole 2010 Winner Last year’s Future Sole 2009 winner Austin Jermacans saw his Jordan Melo M6 design be produced, released, and worn by Carmelo Anthony during an NBA game and by the Syracuse Orangemen in the 2010 NCAA March Madness Tournament. It’ll be tough to follow up that performance but 15-year-old Allen Largin’s winning design of the Future Sole 2010 Competition has some high expectations as well. Largin flew out to Denver with his Jordan Melo M7 design to meet with Carmelo Anthony, and during that meeting, Anthony got an advanced look at the next shoe he will wear this season. Carmelo’s embraced the Jordan Brand Future Sole competition and credits the young designers for their outstanding design, pointing to the moment during which he will wear the shoes in a game as “their moment”. Check out the extra images of Largin’s meeting with Carmelo Anthony after the jump and let us know what you think of the design. Read the rest of Carmelo Anthony Meets Future Sole 2010 Winner

Michael Jordan Through The Years: Air Jordan II

On November 11, 2010, in FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: SNEAKERNEWS.COM
Michael Jordan Through The Years: Air Jordan II Last week, Sneaker News launched Michael Jordan Through The Years, a shoe-by-shoe chronicling of the Air Jordan Legacy featuring Michael Jordan, the shoes, and the stories of that year. We kicked it off with the original Air Jordan 1, a shoe that Jordan said reminded him of the devil, but undoubtedly matched his feisty on-court persona and the bullying aura of black and red. However, the Air Jordan 1 was a mere spin-off of the Nike Dunk High, so it was time start anew for the Air Jordan II; the design exuded an attitude if luxury and high performace while seeming shedding its rebellious reputation, but Air Jordan II didn’t necessarily follow all the rules. The Air Jordan II was designed by Bruce Kilgore, who you know readily for being the man behind the historic Air Force 1, the quintessential Nike shoe and currently the face of the Nike Sportswear. The Air Jordan II was a special project for Kilgore because it wasn’t meant to be a conventional Nike shoe; it was the first signature Nike shoe to not feature a Swoosh logo, but instead featured a diminutive ‘NIKE’ on the rear heel, and introduced an interesting faux-lizard skin material on the upper. The Air Jordan II also featured the luxurious Air Jordan Wings logo on tongue, which also marked the last time the logo would ever make it on an Air Jordan shoe in the years to come. Overall, the level of style and design was unmatched at the time, as Air Jordan II’s 19th-Century boot inspiration and Italian roots separated itself from convention and created a new standard for all the Air Jordan designs to come. Was there a sophomore slump for the Air Jordan II? The design itself was incredibly unique as were the materials used, and Michael Jordan had a stellar year wearing his second signature shoe (actually his third year – he sat out most of his second year due to injury). Jordan averaged a career-high 37.1 points a game, scored more than 3000 points in a season – the first such occurrence since Wilt Chamberlain did in 1973, and established himself as the best shooting guard in the game, as he was selected to the NBA All-Star team, as well as the All-NBA First Team. An NBA star was born in 1984 – did that 1986-87 season and the Air Jordan II establish a growing legacy? Check out the great gallery of Michael Jordan in the Air Jordan II and stay tuned to Sneaker News for our next installment of Michael Jordan Through The Years. Doernbecher x Air Jordan III New Images

On November 2, 2010, in DWU, FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: SNEAKERNEWS.COM
Doernbecher x Air Jordan III – New Images Is there more to the Air Jordan III Doernbecher than we initially thought? These new images of the upcoming Air Jordan release reveals an interesting design feature of the shoe. Cole Johansen, the 11-year-old behind the concept of the shoe, chose a reflective 3M material on his final design, using the flashy material on the mudguard as well as on the tongue and lace placket. When hit was camera flash, the tongue changes from a solid black to an illuminated tone as does the mudguard of the shoe. 3M is always a tasty feature on any sneaker so with this new revelation, the Air Jordan III Doernbecher just went up a few notches. Continue reading for another detailed gallery of images and let us know what you think of the 3M reflective treatment, and if you want to guarantee these to fall in your hands, pre-order your pair now from SneakerApe. Jordan Hydro VI Premier – Flint XIII Inspired

On November 1, 2010, in DWU, FASHION, SNEAKERS, STYLE, Syndicated, by SOURCE: SNEAKERNEWS.COM
Jordan Hydro VI Premier Flint XIII Inspired The 61 degree high forecast for Beaverton, Oregon today isn’t exactly cold for November 1st, but you wouldn’t typically expect Nike Sportswear to be releasing new sandals this time of year.  But that’s exactly what happened with the Manny Pacquiao x Nike Highwire Slide, and that Pac-Man PE makes this new Jordan Brand drop seem slightly less conspicuous.  Equally curious in its timing, the Jordan Hydro VI Premier ties in with the upcoming Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’ retro release, borrowing the Thirteen’s signature cat eye hologram and the Flints’ French Blue ballistic nylon.  You’ll probably have to break out the wool socks for these, but they’re available now from Extra Butter.
