Perrelet Turbine Poker Watch

On September 26, 2011, in LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog

Beer Hand?

There is no shortage of watches molded in the casino-theme (the Girard Perregaux Jackpot Tourbillon, the Roger Dubuis La Monagesque, the Bell & Ross Casino, and the Christophe Claret Blackjack come to mind), but this new Perrelet Turbine Poker watch certainly is a novel if not bizarre take on the concept.   This watch definitely says “cool” for a first impression, but with such a busy and unrealistic dial (vis-a-vis poker) I find it hard to consider this watch a “showpiece” let alone a daily wearer.   The bizarre — and disappointing — thing for me is an unresolvable conflict between the Turbine design and the game of poker.  You see, the Turbine features twelve “blades”, but a standard poker hand is only five cards.  So the designers had to come up with twelve different cards to show on the dial, thus showing about two-and-a-half “poker” hands.  It just doesn’t feel right…in fact it feels a ill-conceived and gimmicky.  In short, I guess you could say that watch is another poorly designed watch in a poorly conceived collection that is harming the great potential and reputation of a name with such a profound heritage (Perrelet was the inventor of the automatic watch).  The Perrelet Turbine Poker watch price:  $6,000.

Hublot Liberty Bang Watch (USA Limited Edition)

On September 24, 2011, in DWU, LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
Cool new watch here from Hublot, the Hublot Liberty Bang.  It was unveiled last week at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA at the 2011 gala dinner and presentation of the Liberty medal to former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates .   Hublot partnered with The Constitution Center and the “Liberty Medal” to create a special limited edition timepiece to be presented to recipients of the award.   The Liberty Medal is awarded annually by the National Constitution Center to men and women of courage and conviction who have strived to secure the blessings of liberty to people the world over.     “It is truly an honor to create a timeless piece representing the values of the Liberty Medal” said Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver. “Freedom and liberty are not gifts to be taken for granted, and we admire, and are inspired by those around us who spend their lives defending them.”

Hublot King Power “Dwyane Wade” Watch

On August 12, 2011, in DWU, LUXURY, SWAGG, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
Scope the new Hublot King Power “Dwyane Wade” edition — the watch we’ve been waiting for since Hublot announced Dwyane Wade as its official Ambassador earlier this year.   Actually, I knew this day was coming when I spied  Dwyane Wade wearing a Hublot watch in early 2010 — Hublot Chief JC-Biver is never one to pass up a high profile Ambassador who is also a Hublotista. As for the King Power Dwyane Wade watch, it is a decent take on Hublot’s “King Power” watch, with a black-white-red “Miami Heat” color scheme, including a red chrono-pusher, red outer bezel flange, and matching subdials, all of which set-off nicely against the 48mm bead-blasted black ceramic case.  I like the strap pairing, too, a leather+rubber strap with “net” style cross-stitching.  Dwyane Wade’s jersey number (3) is also featured at 3 o’clock.

Bulgari Diagono X-Pro (Purists Edition)

On June 3, 2011, in DWU, LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
This special edition Bulgari Diagono X-Pro is perhaps my favorite of the many special edition watches being produced for the upcoming celebration of “Purists” 10 year anniversary celebration in Las Vegas.  I really like the overall look of the regular Diagono X-Pro (see it here), and the blue color accents on the dial of this special Purists edition make it particularly appealing to me.  More broadly, I find the X-Pro to be a respectable offering from Bulgari as compared to its more tradional Bulgari Diagono’s which have bezel’s emblazoned with huge BVGLARI lettering that I find to be obnoxious and gaudy.  Price it:  $16,250.    Buy it.

BVLGARI PuristS 10th Diagono X-Pro Watch

Limited edition 50 pieces

45mm steel+titanium case, special blue color accents on the dial, rubber-coated chrono pushers and crown, automatic mechanical movement (Bvlgari Calibre 312 which is a Valjoux 7750 base customized by La Joux-Perret Manufacture with an additional GMT module), on rubber strap with pin buckle

“PuristS 10th / One of Fifty” text on caseback

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph Watch

On June 2, 2011, in LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
The 100th Indy 500 race was this past weekend, marking a major milestone for the race that has become an icon of American sports culture.  While it was Jorg Gray ambassador and driver Alex Tagliani who started the race from the coveted “Pole Position”, it was Team Bryan Herta Autosport driver Dan Wheldon who took the checkered flag.  In addition to his $2.6 million cash prize for winning the Indy 500 race, Wheldon was also presented with a limited edition TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph (pictured below), the “Official Watch of the Indy 500.”  And now you too can own this watch — the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 Centennial Chronograph watch is available at Tourneau and other TAG Heuer dealers with list price of $1,650.   Not a bad looking watch!

Hublot King Power Diver 4000m Titanium

On March 31, 2011, in DWU, LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
From Perpetuelle: WHOA! FIRST LOOK — Check out the new Hublot King Power 4000m Diver!  After just lamenting over Hublot’s mostly lackluster 2011 releases, I get this — a titanium King Power with a whopping 4,000 meter water resistance.  Yes, it is huge — 48mm.  Yes, it is a bit garish.  But I LIKE the direction that Hublot is headed with this i.e. big and bad dive watches!  As for specs, well stay tuned for the full details I’ve basically told you what you need to know — but at a glance and most notably you can see that the Hublot King Power 4000m Diver is fitted with an inner rotating bezel that is adjusted via the crown on the upper right side of the case, itself which is fitted with a (massive) crown lock system (close-up shown below).  I knew you wouldn’t leave me feeling uninpsired for long, Jean-Claude Biver!

Louis Vuitton Tambour Diving Watch

On December 26, 2010, in LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
News from Dubai… This new Tambour diver from Louis Vuitton will hit Louis Vuitton boutiques in January 2011.  A refresh of a model first introduced in 2005, the watch comes in a few combinations:  steel case/black dial (men’s 44mm and women’s 39.5mm sizes), steel case/blue dial, and a limited edition pink gold case/blue dial/red bezel.  The more discerning eye may appreciate the skeletonized hour and minutes hands, as well as the “dive flag” motif for the small seconds subdial at the 6 o’clock position.  There is also a unidirection bezel which is set with “LOUIS VUITTON” letters in rubber to make for easier grasping of the bezel — if you look closely you can see this in the photo below.

44mm/39.5mm steel or red gold case, unidirection rotating bezel, “L O U I S V U I T T O N” rubber bezel markers, 300m water resistance (100m for the 39.5mm case), rubber strap

Breitling Chronomat 01 Limited Edition

On October 28, 2010, in LUXURY, Syndicated, WATCHES, by SOURCE: Perpetuelle.com Blog
Breitling introduces its flagship Chronomat 01 model in 2 limited edition versions.  Everything about this launch is identical to the recently announced Breitling Navitimer 01 Limited Edition — from the metals (Rose Gold and Steel) to the production (200 and 2,000 pieces, respectively) to the movement (Breitling’s in-house Caliber 01), to the use of a sapphire crystal caseback to show it all off.  Everything, that is, except for the model!  Here it is…

43.5mm Rose Gold Case and Pilot bracelet

Limited Edition of 200, individually numbered

43.5mm Stainless Steel Case and Pilot bracelet

Limited Edition of 2,000, individually numbered

First introduced in the spring of 2009, the Chronomat 01 was the first Breitling watch to house Caliber 01, a chronograph movement entirely developed and produced in the brand’s workshops.

As mentioned above, like the Breilting Navitimer 01 Limited Edition, the Chronomat uses a sapphire crystal caseback to show off its in-house movement, the Breitling Caliber 01:
